Today, you’re going to learn how Amy Crane created an Evergreen Funnel that launched a 6 figure online course business.

I was “introduced” to Amy through an ad that she was running and very quickly became a customer of hers.

Amy runs a Facebook Ads agency called Social Lab Marketing and uses online courses to open up a secondary, and EXTREMELY profitable revenue stream.

Being in Amy’s sphere of influence, I know that she talks a lot about funnels in her courses and programs.  

So when I was doing some research for this post, I decided to check out her funnel.

I then asked her what her conversions were for her “simple” evergreen funnel, and I was blown away by her response:

In case you can’t see that, her funnel converts at 7% for tripwire sales ($27) and 2-3% for her core product ($97).  

In this post we’re going to break down the entire funnel.

You’re going to see the simple landing page she used to capture leads.

  •  - The email follow up sequence that Amy uses to nurture leads.
  •  - And the trip wire that converts 7% of all visitors into customers.
  •  - And the core offer that converts 2 - 3% of subscribers into buyers!

What is an evergreen funnel?

An evergreen funnel is a marketing sequence that runs on autopilot, turning website visitors into customers. 

Because it works 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, this is where the holy grail of “passive income” comes from.  Because the funnel is working while you sleep.

(Ok, enough with these cliches.  We all know that this takes work.)

Amy Crane’s Evergreen Sales Funnel

Amy deploys what is known as a Tripwire Funnel.  She has a tripwire offer at the beginning of her funnel.  This is a low cost offer that expires after a certain period of time.  

Let’s look at a quick break down of how Amy’s evergreen funnel works and then we’ll do a deep dive into each of the components.

Step 1:  First she set up a high converting landing page.

Step 2:  She sets up a tripwire (or a low dollar initial offer) to offset the cost of the ads.  So in essence, she’s building her email list for free using Facebook ads.

Step 3:  She then has a 6 day email nurture sequence. 

Step 4:  She offers a core product

Step 5:  Amy then upsells higher end courses to a huge list of qualified buyers who went through her evergreen funnel.

Now we’re going to dig into all 5 components of Amy’s Evergreen Funnel.

You’re going to see her emails, landing pages, sales pages, everything.  So grab a glass of your favorite beverage and enjoy the post. 🙂

Step 1:  A High Converting Landing Page

Your evergreen funnel starts with a high converting landing page.  

This is where you are going to focus the bulk of your traffic, either from your blog or from your paid advertisement, in order to turn a website visitor into a lead.

You do this by giving away a lead magnet in exchange for an email address.

Here is Amy’s landing page.  It’s where she sends all of her ad traffic:

A few things to notice with this landing page.

First of all, this landing page is super simple.  There are definitely no bells and whistles here. Plane and simple can work very well.

Second, her headline isn’t all that fancy.  It basically tells you exactly what you’re getting and who this product is for.

Finally, she describes a problem that is at the very heart of what anyone who’s tried Facebook ads faces.  They don’t know how to get their ads in front of the right people!

Step 2:  Send them to a Tripwire Offer

A tripwire is a low dollar offer that accomplishes two things:

First, it helps offset the cost of the ads.  You’re not trying to make a profit with your tripwire.  You simply want to use it to grow your email list for free.  

Second, it’s a quick way to get people to go from being a passive subscriber to an active customer. It’s much easier to sell a higher dollar product or generative ai service to someone who is already a customer than it is to sell to someone who is not.

In fact, the team over at the internet marketing site found that you can increase the conversions of your core product by 10X simply by having a highly effective tripwire funnel.

That said, let’s check out Amy’s tripwire sales page that converts 7% of email subscribers into customers.

A few things about this tripwire and why it works so well.

Most importantly, the tripwire offer represents the next step for the customer.  

Let me explain.  

The lead magnet is a free opt-in that is a swipe file of her top Facebook ads.

Then she sells a mini-course on how to create Facebook ads by using non-traditional creative.  She identifies the problem: your Facebook ads aren’t converting. And sells you her solution… and piques curiosity at the same time.  (I mean, what is non traditional creative?)

Next up, this is a limited time offer.  She has a counter on the page that tells you exactly when the deal is set to expire.  You only have two days to make your decision.

And finally, she tells you how much it was going to cost with the cross out. The course is really $97, but you can get it for just $27.  This is a no brainer!

And this tripwire converts at 7%.  

Quick math:  if Amy is able to generate leads at $1.89 per lead (which is quite reasonable), then she is able to build her list for free using only her Tripwire sales.

Step 3:  An Automated Email Sequence

The automated evergreen email sequence is where the heavy lifting of your evergreen funnel takes place.  

In her automated sequence, Amy accomplishes two primary objectives. 

First, she reminds people that her tripwire offer is expiring.

Second, she is going to sell her core product.

Instead of describing how she does this, Amy was nice enough to allow me to give you the emails.  You can use them as a swipe file so you can build your own evergreen funnel.

Day 1:  Welcome Email

The email arrives in your inbox as you’re reading the sales page of her tripwire.  

With her Welcome Email, Amy does two things.  She delivers her lead magnet and reminds you that her tripwire offer is expiring.

The lead magnet is delivered in the body of the email and the tripwire offer is in the P.S.

It’s a pretty elegant email. 🙂

Day 4 (email 1): Selling the core offer

After Amy sells you on her tripwire, she takes a day off from emailing you.  On day 4 however, she goes all in on selling her core offer.

She sends two emails, one in the morning and one in the evening.

Day 4 (email 2):  Selling the core offer again

A few hours after she sends her first email introducing her core offer, Amy sends a second email.  

This one starts with a story about a conversation she had.  And what’s really cool about this story is that it relates to everyone who’s ever tried Facebook ads for themselves.

After the story, she emphasizes the value of the content for the price it’s being offered.  And she does it with a quote from a customer, which is really cool.

And one thing that permeates all of Amy’s marketing material, her website, her email copy, her vidoes, is she is super authentic and vulnerable.

Her marketing isn’t about how amazing she is.  Amy is very open and honest about how much of a struggle it was for her when she was just getting started with Facebook ads.  It’s so relatable to all of her prospects and customers.

Day 6:  The Final Reminder

The goal of this email is to remind you that the price for Crazy Brilliant Facebook Ads is going up in just a few short hours.

Step 4:  Offer the Core Product

Even though this is technically step 4, offering your core really done in parallel with your email sequence.

One of the things she does is put the call to action button above the fold.  Because Amy has done such an amazing job of selling you on Crazy Brilliant Facebook Ads, her sales page doesn’t necessarily have to do a lot of heavy lifting.

Although, for those who aren’t convinced, it’s still really well done and worth checking out in it’s entirety.

Amy’s hero shot makes the sales page super personal.  And the question that she asks gets the person actively engaged straight away.

Note about asking questions in copywriting:  Always ask a question where the only answer is “yes”.

Tools to Build Your Evergreen Funnel

Now that you know how to create an evergreen funnel, it’s time to go over some of the tools that you’ll order to create your funnel.

Landing Page Software

At Entice, I recommend two tools to create your landing page.

I’ve personally used both and have had great success.


Leadpages is a self hosted landing page software that features a very intuitive drag and drop editor.

There are templates that are pre-tested for their conversion rates, so you just need to change the colors, add your text and know you will have a high converting landing page.

Thrive Themes

The second landing page tool that I recommend is Thrive Themes.

Thrive is a WordPress plugin that allows you to create landing pages right in your WordPress dashboard.

They have a variety of templates to choose from that will help you ensure your landing page converts well. 

The one drawback to Thrive is that you must be using in order to use the tool.  

Once you capture their email address, it’s time to send them through an automated email sequence.

For an email service Provider, I use Convertkit.  It’s an amazing app that is relatively easy to use, provides a lot of flexibility.

Countdown Timer

One of the most powerful drivers to a successful live launch is the sense of urgency that is created.

Typically, in a live launch, the cart “opens” for a period of time before “closing” and the offer is gone forever.

With an evergreen funnel, simulating this sense of urgency can dramatically increase your conversion rate in your funnel.

(Note:  I’m going to share a few ways people add urgency.  It’s up to you to decide which is right for you.)

  1. Close the cart.  With an evergreen funnel, you can still “close the cart”.  Kind of. You can tell people that the offer is “going away” forever, but in reality it isn’t.  If someone just enters in their email address again at the top of the funnel, they’ll see the product again.  
  2. Raise the price. Just as with the cart closing, you can tell people that the price is going up if they don’t act now.  Again, if they enter their email address at the top of the funnel, they’ll see the reduced price.
  3. Remove the “fast action bonus”.  This is the option that I choose.  For me, it just feels the most ethical. The course will remain.  The price stays the same. The only thing that goes away is the bonuses.  And if they truly want the bonus, they can just enter their email again and go through the funnel.
